Start of the Morning

Almaca's species are nocturnal primarily, livng underground during the day and only coming to the surface during the night. Due to the adaptions their bodies have made to survive more successfully with the nightlife there are a few small issues that have developed. Primarily being in the subject of eyesight. 

Their eyes are meant to let as might light as possible into them, hence why they are black, the irises have expanded giving them that black appearance. Great for seeing at night, and great for vacantly staring at your friends.

Not so great for going out during the day.

Call it a natural flaw of his species, but this wonderful evolutionary advantage is also one of their greatest disadvantages. Due to the fact that his eyes let all light into them, little Alma runs the risk permanently damage himself, at worst going blind due to it. Their eyes just cannot handle the intense sunlight.

And this is why little Almaca is always wearing that gasmask during the day, its like his kind of sunglasses
