 The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain.  

A rainy night, witty banter, a good book, only thing that would make it better is a cup of tea. 
Honestly, I find the rain calming. Not foreboding or threatening, its a soft reminder of the world we live in, and a lullaby for those with a restless sleep.
